I’ve been taking lessons with Ben for two months now, and I’ve already learned so much! He’s incredibly patient and starts right from the basics (at least for beginners). As someone who barely remembered any music theory, I’m now learning it through the guitar thanks to him. You can also let him know if something doesn’t suit you or feels too difficult — he’ll adjust his lessons accordingly. Amazing teacher. Highly recommended!

I took lessons with Ben for almost five years — first on classical guitar, later on electric. Even though I’m no musical genius, Ben taught me how to play and, more importantly, made learning fun. Music theory, reading notes, rhythm, chords, my first (simple) solo, playing together/duets, classical, pop, blues, rock… it’s all covered. The impact of regular (weekly or biweekly) practice sessions is huge: practice and consistency make perfect! Ben is a coach you can truly rely on!

Robert Mitchell

So far, I’ve taken 20 lessons with Ben. He’s incredibly patient and makes learning guitar as an absolute beginner both understandable and fun!

A very patient teacher. You learn at your own pace, with lesson times arranged together — super convenient if you already have a pretty packed schedule.

Robin Daems

A fantastic mentor for guitar lessons. The lesson structure was fully tailored to my experience and delivered with a lot of patience. From barely being able to play a chord to, just 2–3 months later, playing along with songs after some practice — I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made.

Steven De Meyer

Great guitar lessons with a nice balance between theory, technique, and actually playing. After just three lessons, I’ve already made clear progress. Definitely recommended!

What is the best age to start guitar lessons for kids?

The best age to start guitar lessons is usually around 6 or 7 years old. At this age, children have sufficient hand size and motor skills to learn the basics. They have developed the physical strength and coordination needed to hold a guitar and press down on the strings. Also read guitar lesson chords. They have also developed sufficient cognitive skills around this age to process and apply abstract concepts such as notes and rhythms. Attention, discipline and a good understanding of the importance of practice and perseverance are other important aspects that can usually be demonstrated around this age. Starting with a trial lesson to see how your child responds to the guitar and the lessons is definitely encouraged here too!

Playful and interactive learning methods

Children learn best through play and interaction. The lessons use songs and an enjoyable step-by-step learning method to help children master the basics of guitar playing.

Use of child-friendly guitars

It is important that children have a guitar that is appropriate for their size. A smaller guitar with a lighter weight is of course easier for a young child to hold and play. The most common sizes for children are ½, ¾ and 7/8 and these are all available in music stores, both acoustic and electric. Also read electric guitar lessons. I am happy to help you as a parent choose a child-friendly guitar that has good durability and also looks attractive.

Learning through songs

Familiar songs make the learning process fun and engaging. Children can learn to play their favorite songs, which increases their motivation and enjoyment. It makes lessons more fun and interesting, which makes them more motivated to practice. Playing songs that they are familiar with also makes the learning process easier and less intimidating, because they already have a basic understanding of the song. They stay more engaged and focused this way, and are more likely to pay attention and try harder, which leads to more effective learning experiences. Setting achievable goals, encouraging the child with positive feedback, and making practice fun and varied will ensure that guitar lessons are never forgotten.

Individual attention and customized lessons

Every student is unique. That is why we offer individual attention and adapt our lessons to the level and interests of the child. In this way we ensure an optimal learning experience. By taking small concrete steps and celebrating these when they are achieved, we ensure that the child feels successful and motivated. We find it important to compliment each person on his or her progress, technique and effort. By using different teaching methods and materials, we increase interest and involvement and create a supportive environment.

Development of musical skills and discipline

Guitar lessons not only help children learn how to play music, but also develop their discipline and perseverance. Regular practice and playing helps them to work in a structured and goal-oriented manner. Playing the guitar requires good coordination between both hands. Children learn fine motor skills by plucking strings and pressing notes. During lessons, they will also learn the basics of music theory, which will give them a strong foundation for further musical studies and will also help them to eventually pick up other instruments in the future. Since playing the guitar requires consistent practice, they should spend time on it regularly. Learning to play the guitar is a long-term process that requires patience and perseverance. By setting small goals and working systematically to achieve them, children learn how to tackle bigger challenges and persevere even when the going gets tough. Playing the guitar also provides them with a means to express themselves creatively. By making music and performing for others, they gain self-confidence and learn how to express their emotions through their instrument.
